Gravenhurst

Alfreda May Lemay, a dedicated office clerk at Gravenhurst Public Utilities for many years, has peacefully passed away at the age of 89. Born on April 23, 1934, in her beloved hometown of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Alfreda was a remarkable woman who embraced life with grace and warmth.

Alfreda's unwavering devotion to her family was evident throughout her life. She cherished the moments spent with them and had an ardent desire to celebrate her 90th birthday surrounded by all her loved ones. Sadly, she passed away just days before Thanksgiving, an occasion she was eagerly looking forward to.

A pillar of strength in her community, Alfreda held a profound connection with the Calvary Baptist Church and her entire church family. She dedicated numerous years to serving the church and actively participated in various church activities. Her faith in Jesus Christ was unyielding, and she found solace in living according to His teachings.

Traveling brought immense joy to Alfreda's life. From the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska to the sunny shores of Florida and the vibrant city of Texas, she relished every moment spent traveling. Alfreda ventured from coast to coast within Canada and visited each province with great enthusiasm. She enjoyed her time outdoors camping in every corner of Ontario.

On October 2, 2023, Alfreda peacefully passed away at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. With family by her side. Though we mourn her departure deeply, we find comfort in knowing that she has found eternal peace in the arms of her Lord and Saviour.

Alfreda is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph Edward Lemay, who passed away in 2018. She is survived by her loving children Deborah Sculthorp (Brian) of Gravenhurst, Edward Lemay (Simone) of Gravenhurst, and Steven Lemay (BobbiJo) of Coldwater. Alfreda's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren - Lance, Amanda, Soleil, Andrew, Hunter, Cole, William, and Leah. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Tristian, Ally, Elias, Emily, Dastan, Talson, Emerson, and Felicity.

Alfreda May Lemay will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to the Calvary Baptist Church, and her adventurous spirit. Her warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of many. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us celebrate her life and hold dear the precious memories she gifted us. May she rest in eternal peace.
