Alice Mae Schenk (nee Fizell) passed away at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Alice was the beloved wife of Garnet for almost 70 years.

Alice was the loving mother of Peggy Schenk (Tim Chadder) of Ottawa and Janice Schenk (Aaron Gaouette) of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Michaela Chadder of Calgary and Nicolas Chadder (Kelsey Xerri) of Ottawa. Sister of the late Irva Murdock.

Alice was an entrepreneur and long-time owner of the Margaret Ellen Shop, and was a President of the Gravenhurst Board of Trade, and a member of the Gravenhurst Business Improvement Area (BIA). Alice was an Elder in the congregations of both Knox and Zion Presbyterian Churches. She enjoyed her flowers, knitting, and quilting, and created many folk-art treasures. Alice was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. She also thoroughly enjoyed the community at the Alexander Muskoka Residence.

Recently, she participated in a knitting group at The Alexander Muskoka Residence with funds raised to support Gravenhurst Against Poverty (GAP).

Visitation will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and a private service will be held. Burial will take place in the Spring at The Hanover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Gravenhurst Against Poverty (GAP) would be appreciated and may be arranged online or through Cavill Funeral Home.
