It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Dorothy Murphy, who passed away peacefully at her cherished home on the lake on June 18, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Brian Aloysius Murphy, and a loving mother to Donna Joan Murphy and Patrick James Murphy (Cindy). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Richard, Andrew, Emily, Riley, Sarah, and Brian, and a joyful great-grandmother to Anastasia, Teela, Harlow, and Willow.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Beth, and Brenda, and will be deeply missed by a large circle of close friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother Bruce Rennie.
Barbara’s life was one of generosity, strength, and compassion. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—taking long walks with her beloved dog Winston, spending time in nature, swimming in the lake, and engaging deeply with her community. A lover of card games, a dedicated reader, and an avid television watcher, Barbara embraced every day with curiosity and heart.
Professionally, Barbara dedicated many years to the field of personal banking with TD and the Royal Bank before finding her stride with Tele-Direct (Yellow Pages), where she held various roles throughout the majority of her career. She was admired by colleagues for her diligence, warmth, and professional integrity.
Barbara was deeply grateful for the unwavering support she received during her courageous battle with cancer. In particular, she held close to her heart the kindness and companionship of Cyril Murphy, Sandra and Peter Ford, Jim and Maggie Frederickson, Rev. Jane Swatridge, and the entire community of Torrance, who stood by her with love and care.
Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and quiet strength that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery, Toronto, on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to RVH-Cancer Centre - https://www.rvh.on.ca/areas-of-care/cancer-program/
