On the afternoon of Saturday, July 25, 2026, Betty Vajda passed away peacefully at Andy’s House – Hospice Muskoka outside on the deck with the sun shining, birds chirping, with a mild breeze. Betty was the beloved wife of 61 years to Joe Vajda.
Betty is also survived by her children Tammy (Dale), Lori (Rick), and Joey, grandchildren Andrew, Matthew, Lucus, Brandon, and Kara, as well as great grandchildren Rhett and Colton as well as her sisters Delma, Brenda, Georgina, and Janet, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Amelisa Matheson. Sisters Dorothy, Evelyn, Inez, Arlene, Marilyn, Carol, Roberta, Linda, Violet, and brothers Arthur and Robert.
Betty enjoyed various hobbies, including exercising, cycling, gardening, and sewing. More than anything Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends and family who she loved dearly.
She spent many years working in the manufacturing industry. In her later years, Betty worked at Tim Hortons, where she became known as “the hustler” because she worked so quickly and efficiently.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Ryan and Rebecca’s, 1593 Doe Lake Rd. Gravenhurst P1P 1R3.
Memorial donations made to Andy’s House – Hospice Muskoka would be appreciated and may be arranged through Cavill Funeral Home.
