LOSHAW, Brent – Passed away surrounded by his loving family at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, on Monday, August 7, 2023; age 60. Brent married Christine (Lacroix) in 1988 and in their 35 years together they built a beautiful home and raised their two boys Jordan (Tessa Hunt) and Devon (Crystal Graff). Brent was such a proud father, always there to help his boys when they needed anything at all.
Brent loved his family. He was the son of Karen (Tingey) and the late George Loshaw. Beloved “Brother Brent” of Graham Loshaw (Donna) and Kevin Loshaw. Proud uncle of two beautiful nieces, Amber Loshaw (Natasha), Megan Loshaw (Zack MacKinnon) and nine nephews Ryan Kennedy (Jessica), Kyle Kennedy (Megan), Jaron Kennedy, Tanner Loshaw, Parker Loshaw, Aiden Lacroix, Connor Lacroix, Dylan Lacroix and Tyson Vollering (Elizabeth). Great-uncle of Avery and Piper MacKinnon, Finley Wilson and Nora and Ainsley Kennedy. Son-in-law of Rick and the late Valerie Lacroix. Brother-in-law of Alex Lacroix (Heather Collicut) and Connie Kennedy (Rob).
In his late teens Brent began his career in drywall and painting working for J&M Drywall and Painting in Gravenhurst. In need of a change, he began working at Crown Group and then Algonquin Automotive. He returned to the drywall and painting trade in 2009 and later started his own business “Loshaw Drywall & Painting” in 2012. He was a master of his trade and well respected across Muskoka.
Brent was known for his infamous Halloween parties, he loved camping, fishing, ATVing, being outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He and Christine enjoyed several great trips over the years, including Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Yukon Territory, and the East Coast. They had many more adventures planned for their retirement, including a return trip to Scotland, which he loved.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Trinity United Church (290 Muskoka Rd North, Gravenhurst) on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Brent’s Life will follow at the Terry Fox Auditorium (101 Centennial Dr, Gravenhurst), until 3:00 p.m. For those who wish to make a donation in Brent’s memory please consider donating to Canadian Liver Foundation, South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation, or Toronto General Hospital - Peter Munk Cardiac Centre.
