Gravenhurst

Carol Winona Thompson passed away peacefully at Muskoka Shore Care Community on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 80.

Carol was the beloved wife of Ogilvie Thompson for over 55 years. She was a devoted and loving mother to Elaine Thompson (Chris) and Gayle Thompson (Brian), and a cherished grandmother to Brandon, Mya, and Bailey. Carol was the dear sister of Sylvia Kemp and was predeceased by her sister Kathy Hartwell.

Born and raised in Muskoka, Carol attended Muskoka Falls Public School and later earned her nursing degree at Toronto General Hospital in 1968. Always a caregiver at heart, she found great joy and purpose in her nursing career, touching countless lives with her compassion and dedication. She went on to teaching First Aid after retiring from her nursing career.

Carol had a love for reading and oil painting, and she found peace and inspiration in nature - even if she preferred to enjoy it from the sidelines. Whether accompanying Ogilvie on fishing trips or attending his baseball and hockey games, Carol could often be found with her nose in a good book.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a regular attendee at Calvary Baptist Church and Pinegrove Baptist Church before moving to Muskoka Shores. She especially enjoyed participating in their Bible studies.

Carol shared a special bond with her sister Sylvia, and their closeness was a source of comfort and joy throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and quiet strength.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
