Cathleen Anne MacLennan

June 13, 1978 — December 13, 2025

Gravenhurst

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Cathleen Anne MacLennan (nee Herrera). She was the beloved mother to Ariya, Brinley and Carine, devoted wife to Adam, cherished daughter of Maria and Manuel Herrera and loving sister/Ate to Christine Herrera (Don Nguyen). Cathleen had many joys in life including a passion for travel and good food. None of the joys in her life matched that of being mother to her wonderful children and spending time with family and good friends.

Cathleen suffered a brain aneurysm on Nov 20, 2025 and was taken to St Mikes Neuro ICU. She passed peacefully Dec 13, 2025. We would like to thank the local EMS/OPP services for their exemplary care and kindness, the team at HDMH ER as well as the staff at St. Michaels NeuroICU for providing unmatched medical care throughout. Cathleen was known as a prolific gift giver and it is fitting that in this Christmas season her last act was to continue giving through Trillium Gift of Life.

Originally from Scarborough, Cathleen gave in to her husband’s desire to live in a small town. No one really expected the city girl to take to small town living the way Cathleen did. She deeply loved the community of Gravenhurst, the personal connections developed here and the support she felt from the local business and law community as she established her law practice. Cruickshank and MacLennan Law Office continues to operate, Lawyer Val Tingey, with our great thanks, has stepped in and with staff continue to manage the practice as transition plans are made. We are thankful to Cathleen’s wonderful staff, Jen, Kassel and Connie for their hard work and appreciate the kindness and patience of clients through this difficult time.

Donations in her memory may be made to Gravenhurst Against Poverty and Carters Forever Rescue and Sanctuary, flowers may be sent through Blooming Muskoka, all local organizations and businesses that Cathleen had personal connection with.

A private service will be held for the family. In the spring we are planning a public celebration of life for her with details to follow; all will be welcome.

It is hard to say goodbye to someone so full of life, warmth and kindness. We try to hold on to her by recalling her amazing humour, the sound of her infectious laugh and the sight of her beautiful smile. As Cathleen would sign off her emails: Be Safe, Be Well, Be Kind.
