With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Frederick Tipple on Thursday, May 15, 2025—a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
David leaves behind his children, Jennifer and Scott Edger, and their mother Debra Tipple, who together shared a lifelong bond of family. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Jacob Edger, Sierra, and June Edger-Sahanatien, who were the light of his life. Becoming “Papa” was David’s greatest joy, and he wore that title with immeasurable pride.
David was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and moved to Gravenhurst, Ontario as a young boy with his family. Adventurous at heart, he later ventured west, spending many years in Western Canada, where he worked various jobs—many involving his passion for driving. He fondly recalled his time as a cab driver in British Columbia, and also spent many dedicated years working for MCS, where he built lasting friendships and was known for his strong work ethic.
David was predeceased by his parents, Austin (Aussie) and Blanche Tipple, and by his brother William (Bill) Tipple. He is survived by his brothers Donald (Yelena) Tipple of Palm Coast, Florida and Allan (Betty) Tipple of Gravenhurst, Ontario.
He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: David (Carissa) Tipple, Richard Tipple, Robert (Megan) Tipple, Stephanie (Brian) Taylor, Sandra Tipple, Kristina Stepanenko, and Nicole Tipple.
David also shared a close and cherished friendship with Lorraine Davidson, who, along with her children Shannon (Kevin), Brandon, and Joshua, brought much joy and companionship into his life.
In his spare time, David enjoyed nothing more than a good game of poker with his buddies. Those nights were filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of camaraderie that meant the world to him.
Known for his sense of humor, generous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family and friends, David will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all of the incredible staff at Andy’s House in Port Carling, Ontario, for their kindness, care, and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s memory to Andy’s House to support the wonderful work they do.
