Passed away peacefully at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge, on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Beloved wife of Joseph Irwin Jones. Cherished mother of Anthony (Maria), Glenn, and Lori Barnes (Rick). Proud grandmother of Christopher (Samantha), Katelyn, Michael, Alexander, and Patrick. Loving great-grandmother to Sebastien and Evelyn.
Gladys was predeceased by her siblings Donald (Louise), Edna (Elmer), Stella (James), as well as Stella’s first husband Ralph.
A devoted member of Gateway Worship Centre, Gladys generously gave her time to the church community—teaching Sunday School and Youth Group, leading Bible studies and prayer groups, hosting guest speakers, and always opening her home to anyone in need of a place to stay. She also lovingly hosted a schoolteacher in her home for many years.
She worked for many years at the Rubberset Factory, and found joy in gardening, sewing, knitting, baking, painting scenic landscapes, as well as fishing and hunting. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family—her greatest joy in life.
A verse that held special meaning to Gladys: 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) – "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gateway Worship Centre on Monday, June 9, at 2:00 PM.
