It is with heavey hearts we announce the passing of Gordon Peter Gabitous on October 23, 2026. He was 86 years old. Gord was predeceased by his loving wife Gladys.

Loving father to Lori (Bernard), Kathy (Kevin), Cindy, and Greg (Cindy). Cherished Grandfather to Lisa, Michael, Jake, Jeremy, Joey, Jericho and Cassidy. Great-Grandfather to Mia, Adria, Jovie, Jonah, Daxton, Xavier and Alexander.

Loving and wonderful brother to Les, Don (predeceased) and Carol.

He was a wonderful brother-in-law to their spouses over the years and they all appreciated his wit and his crazy sense of humour.

Gord was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 31, 1939. He moved to Gravenhurst in his teens. As a teen he loved his sports, didn't love school so much but it was in school that he eventually met the love of his life Gladys. They married and he went on to attend Barbering School in Toronto at 19. He worked with his father for many years before opening his own barbershop.

As a young father he continued his love of sports by actively being a coach for his son Greg in hockey and baseball. Gord, himself, was an avid hockey player until he was in his fifties. Gordon and Gladys worked as a team in their marriage and all of his children have special memories of that teamwork.

Gord loved to travel with Gladys and they had many adventures together. In his youth Gord hunted, went camping, and fished.

Before he officially retired, he ran his barbering business out of his home. The door was always open for patrons, friends and family.

Always greeting them was a smiling face sitting in his barber chair.

After he retired his door was always open for anyone wanting a haircut until his health deemed it necessary to stop. He enjoyed conversing with his patrons and after retirement many stopped by his home just to have a chat.

His sense of humour, generosity and love will forever be remembered.

As per Gord's request, there will be no service. We can all celebrate his life with our memories of him being an amazing man. If desired, memorial contributions to The Heart & Stroke Foundation ( Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada | Home )would be greatly appreciated by the family.
