Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Harold “Hanny” Charles Hansen at his home on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Hanny is predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Hopps. He is survived by his siblings, Karen Bowins (Kenneth) and Bill Hansen, and will be deeply missed by his niece, Joanne (Ryan), as well as great nieces and nephews - Josh, Emily (Em), Owen, and Hannah - all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Born in Huntsville and raised in Gravenhurst, Hanny carried a lifelong fondness for Muskoka. He made Bala his home after moving there in 1971. Over the years, he became a well-known and respected member of the community. Hanny was a proud co-owner of Lantern Marina. He took great pride in his work as a realtor, where he built many lasting friendships. He was actively involved in community sports, supporting and participating in local athletic events throughout his life.

A celebration of Hanny’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army of Gravenhurst (https://southmuskokaministries.com/) or the Rotary Gravenhurst Health Hub (https://www.gravenhursthealthhub.com/) would be greatly appreciated.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hanny’s caregivers and close friends for their support, kindness, and companionship.

Hanny’s wonderful spirit, dedication, and warm presence will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
