It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Amos announce her passing on October 7, 2026, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge. Irene passed away peacefully with her beloved son by her side. She had just turned 94 on Saturday.

Irene was born on October 3, 1932, in Blackburn, England, and later made her home in Muskoka, where she built a life filled with family, friendship, faith, and hard work.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alan Amos, and together they raised two children, Ian and Karen. Irene was predeceased by her husband Alan and her cherished daughter Karen.

Many in the community will remember Irene as the co-owner of the Sunset Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Moon River in Bala. Alongside her son Ian and daughter Karen, she dedicated many years to the family business, welcoming guests with warmth and kindness until her retirement.

A devoted member of Gravenhurst Presbyterian Church, Irene's faith was an important part of her life. She found strength, fellowship, and joy within her church family and remained a dedicated supporter of her congregation throughout the years.

Irene was a loving Mum whose gentle nature, caring heart, and warm hugs will be deeply missed. To her son Ian, she was not only a mother but also his very best friend. She was known for speaking her mind, always honestly and always with love.

Family was at the center of Irene's life. She loved to travel and was happiest when sharing adventures with those she loved. Together, the family explored many parts of the world, creating cherished memories in Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, the Holy Land, and throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. No matter where their travels took them, they did everything together.

In her spare time, Irene enjoyed sewing, sharing a glass of sherry with family and friends, and cheering on her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.

Irene leaves behind her devoted son Ian, extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

A Memorial Service will be held at Gravenhurst Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Gravenhurst Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
