James Benedict Smith

James Benedict Smith passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 63.

Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Vivian Magdalinos, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of love, companionship, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Nancy Magdalinos and Gena Reich (Matthew), and a proud grandfather to Alex Boese, Zack Boese, Tyler Wreaks, Victoria Wreaks, and Isabella Reich. Jim was also thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Elizabeth Wreaks.

He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Lorraine Smith and Betty Smith, and was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Angela Smith.

Jim's hardworking nature and friendly personality were appreciated by colleagues and customers alike. Known for his charismatic spirit, generous heart, and unforgettable sense of humour, Jim had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or share a laugh when it was needed most.

An avid reader and enthusiastic sports fan, Jim enjoyed spending his time immersed in a good book, cheering on his favourite teams, and caring for his beloved cats. Above all else, however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

A big kid at heart, Jim shared a special bond with his grandchildren. Whether he was telling jokes, being silly, or creating fun memories together, he brought laughter and happiness wherever he went. His family will forever treasure the countless moments spent with him.

Jim will be remembered most for his unwavering devotion to those he loved. From driving children and grandchildren to school, helping with homework, offering advice, or simply being there when needed, he was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement. His presence in the lives of his family was a gift that will never be forgotten.

Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
