James Richard Shelly

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Richard Shelly on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was born on February 1, 1988, in Comox, BC.  

James cherished his wife Jacqui and their four beautiful daughters Savannah, Mila, Adley, and Renly. His family meant the world to him.  

When not spending time with his family, James enjoyed playing basketball, mountain bike rides, working with his hands and most of all, golf. He always made himself available to lend a helping hand to family and friends, especially if it involved his forte of carpentry.

Son of Chris Shelly (Miriam) with whom he spent much of his time playing golf. Mother Jackie Hollingsworth of Fort McMurray, AB. Son-in-law of Susan Dugas and Rick (Heidi) Larocque. Stepson to Ruth Downe. Nephew to Wendy Shelly (Joe), David Hollingsworth (Debbie), Cindy Landry (Martin), Donna Hollingsworth (Rob), and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families. Uncle to Rayden Shelly, whom Rayden considered to be his big brother. Brother to Rebecca Bird (Gord), Ashley Olimer (DJ), Josh Olimer (Karla).  Half brother to Abigail (Brandon), Britnie, and Cooper Zur. Grandson to Jr Shelly. Brother-in-law to Richard Larocque (Sara), Robert Larocque (Christina), and Karlie Larocque. He was also an uncle to Megan, Alex, Ewan, Flynn, CJ, Harrison, Reilly, Emery, Oliviyah, Ben, Harley, Isaac, Caleb, and Mirene.

Longtime childhood friend to Josh Gray who also became his employer. He will be remembered dearly by his many other friends and their families. 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 1-4 pm.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (https://cmha.ca/), or a charity of your choice.

Let us all hold onto the cherished memories that we have so that we may find comfort in this difficult time.
