BLACK, JOHN Fire Chief, North Huron Fire Department, Twp. of North Huron Former Deputy Fire Chief with the Gravenhurst Volunteer Fire Department May 2004 - June 2009 (Years of Service April 1985 - June 2009) At the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 in his 51st year. Beloved husband to Catherine "Cathy" Anne Black (nee Smallfield) of Gravenhurst. Much loved father to Rachel Elizabeth Black and Brandon William Black. Beloved son of Margaret Black (late William) of Gravenhurst. Dear brother to Jennifer Schroeder (Kurt) of Fraser Lake, B.C. and David Black (Joanne) of Thornton. Son-in-law to Ann Smallfield (late Robert "Bob") of Gravenhurst. Brother-in-law to Diane Luciano (Dominic) and Douglas Smallfield (Lynn), all of Mississauga. John was the beloved uncle to Monica, Alina Ethan, Mark, Jennifer, Audra, Carla and Steven and great-uncle to Mateo. The family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home, 215-1 Bay Street, Gravenhurst on Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Service to Celebrate the Life of John Black will be held at Trinity United Church, 390 Muskoka Rd. N. in Gravenhurst on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation in the Church from noon until time of service. Cremation has taken place. Service Extra Info All Firefighters attending the Service are to muster at: 190 Harvie St., Gravenhurst Fire Department, Station One at 11:30 a.m. on Wed. April 25. Dress: Number One Dress Uniform with Medals. In addition, A fire chief's memorial service will be held at the Emergency Services Training Centre - Blyth, ON - Saturday the 28th of April at 13:30. The facility is located at 40193 Blyth Road (also known as Huron County Road #25), just east of the intersection of Hwy #4, in the community of Blyth, Ontario. Firefighters in attendance are asked to muster at the Blyth & District Community Centre (377 Gypsy Lane) at 12:00.
