Linda Pante

February 28, 1952 — December 21, 2018

PANTE - Linda Marie (Gaddye) - passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her, on Friday, December 21, 2018 in her 67th year. Linda was the beloved mother of Terri Parton (J) and Julie Pante (Trevor) and was pre-deceased by her only son, Chris Morin. Grandmother of Cassidy and Noah Fick, Jadyn and Josie Goldberg. Loved sister of Kathleen Hudson (Michael). Aunt to Brent Rees (Cynthia), Jordan Rees (Salna) and Kaila Hudson (Daymond).
Linda was born in Orillia on February 28, 1952 to parents Jack and Marie Gaddye. She lived on the family farm in Foxmead for her first 11 years. Her aunts and uncles lived on neighbouring farms and she had cousins to play with. Her best friend, however, was a chicken. She could often be found carrying it under her arm or pushing it in a baby carriage.
In 1963 the family moved to Gravenhurst where Linda attended Gravenhurst Public School. It was a big change from the one room school house she had previously attended. The teacher at that school was good friends with Gordon Lightfoot, and he would often come to the school and play for the children. After grade school Linda went on to Gravenhurst High School.
Linda's first job after high school was waitressing. She was fond of telling the story of the two men who came in and ordered "hot hamburgers". Not knowing the difference, she told the cook she needed two hamburgers and to "make sure they're hot!"
After that Linda was a stay at home mom until she became a single mom. She found employment at Rockwell International. It was there she met a group of women who would become life long friends.
Linda enjoyed the outdoors. She loved camping, bonfires and birds.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Linda was one of a kind. She was a beautiful person and to know her was to love her.
To honour Linda's wishes, a "Living Funeral" has been held. Arrangements entrusted to Cavill Funeral Home, Gravenhurst. If desired, memorial contributions to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Personal condolences may be offered at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
