Marian Doris Jorgensen

August 24, 1933 — June 14, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marian Jorgensen, affectionately known as Marney, on the morning of June 14, 2025, at Andy’s House hospice in Port Carling, Ontario. She was 91 years old.

Marney was the cherished mother of her son Randal and his wife Sue, and was predeceased by her beloved sons Philip (late Lisa) and Eric (Carol Ann). She will always be remembered and loved by her grandchildren David (Faryl), Sarah (John), Emma (Shawn), and Peter (Leah). Her loving great-grandsons Mason and Liam, and great-granddaughter Sydney, will greatly miss her.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1933, Marney moved with her mother Doris to Toronto at an early age. To make ends meet, her aunts and uncles helped out, and Marney spent several of her early years in Northern Ontario in communities like Geraldton and Larder Lake, where she formed many fond memories of outdoor life.

Back in Toronto, Marney grew up in the north of Cabbagetown and was proud to have attended Jarvis Collegiate. She met her husband Ken, and they married in 1953. Philip was born in 1955, and shortly after, they moved to Etobicoke, living for a while in Mimico before settling in West Deane Park. It was a wonderful area to raise their three sons, who enjoyed playing in the Mimico Creek ravine and with the neighborhood kids.

After her marriage ended, Marney eventually moved to Shelburne, Ontario, to be close to Eric and Carol Ann. She found joy in helping with her grandchildren Emma and Peter, and they grew very close to their beloved Grammy.

In her later years, Marney relocated to a condo in Gravenhurst to be near Randy and Sue. Despite facing many health challenges over the years, she showed remarkable resilience. However, after an extended stay in the hospital this year, her strength and energy diminished, and she spent her final days at Andy’s House.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge and the wonderful caregivers at Andy’s House, who provided Marney with dignity and comfort in her final days.

A private service will be held at the family plot in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Muskoka/Andy’s House or your local hospice would be appreciated.

We will never forget Mom’s wonderful smile, her heartfelt laugh and her beautiful approach to life: always be kind.
