1925 – 2023
Marjorie Loreen French, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. She was born the only child of James & Mabel Johnson on October 10, 1925, in Hamilton, ON. She grew up with the companionship of many cousins who all enjoyed the outdoors & country life.
She showed great strength of character in dealing with the many difficulties in her long life including the illness & death of her second daughter Terry Mae at such a very young age and the death of her first husband.
Known for her stoic nature, Marjorie approached both her personal and professional life with a steadfast determination. Throughout her secretarial career she demonstrated exemplary organizational skills and an unmatched work ethic. Marjorie's commitment to excellence earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Beyond the office walls Marjorie found great pleasure in various hobbies and interests. She loved gardening and took great pride in the flowers & vegetables she grew. The sight of colorful blooms brought her immense happiness. Her love for nature extended to a fondness for cats especially and she loved birds too.
One of Marjorie's favourite pastimes was travelling. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore different parts of North America including the sunny shores of Florida and bus trips across western Canada and California. She enjoyed discovering new landscapes, cultures, and experiences during these many journeys with either her mother, husband or adult children.
Marjorie is survived by her loving family who will deeply miss her presence. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin French and daughter Terry Mae. Left to cherish her memory are her children Linda, Ross, Wendy, Deana (Lyle), as well as grandchildren - Gord (Dorothy), Laura (Bob), Ron (Monica), Rich (Rene), Tom, Trevor, Sheldon (Tracy), Alana (Charles), Amanda, and Michael (Nichole). She was step-mother to Debbie, Mark, Terry and Colin. She also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held on September 14th, 2023 at Knox Presbyterian Cemetery, Binbrook, ON. Marjorie Loreen French will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. She will be remembered for her strength dealing with many difficulties during her long life and her strong love for her family. As we bid farewell to this wonderful woman, let us celebrate a life lived with grace, resilience, and an indomitable spirit. May she rest in eternal peace.
