Michael “Mikey” Sutcliffe
“Drama,” “Sut”
Michael “Mikey” Sutcliffe, 50, of Gravenhurst, passed away on August 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Born to Lela and Alan Sutcliffe, Mikey was the youngest of three boys, sharing a lifelong bond with his brothers, Jason and David. His larger-than-life personality touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Mikey was a devoted father to his three children, Ashlyn, Mikayla, and Rudy, and a proud stepdad to CJ, Harrison, and Emery. He loved his kids wholeheartedly, cheering them on as the loudest, most passionate sports dad in the crowd, whether they were on the field, ice, or court. His love extended to his partner, Karlie, with whom he shared a deep and meaningful connection.
A true outdoorsman, Mikey was obsessed with fishing—ice, dock, or boat, anywhere there was water, he was there with a rod in hand. He also cherished hunting, hockey, and football, and had a surprising soft spot for watching golf, a pastime that baffled his kids but brought him quiet joy. Music was another passion, especially rap, with Eminem’s lyrics filling the car during drives with his children, who can still recite every word. Mikey once dreamed of being a rapper himself, a reflection of his vibrant, creative spirit.
Known as the life of the party, Mikey’s sharp humor and magnetic personality drew people to him. He was a friend for life to those lucky enough to know him, always just a phone call away, ready to drop everything for those he loved. Like an onion, Mikey had many layers—tough on the outside, but with a soft, deeply caring heart reserved for his family and closest friends. His loyalty was unmatched, and he stood up fiercely for those he held dear, no matter the circumstances.
A skilled craftsman, Mikey brought a dedicated work ethic and an eye for detail to everything he did, from his professional projects to late-night poker games with friends. His ability to make light of any situation and his infectious zest for life left an indelible mark on his community.
Mikey is survived by his parents, Lela and Alan Sutcliffe; his brothers, Jason and David; his children, Ashlyn, Mikayla, and Rudy; his stepchildren, CJ, Harrison, and Emery; and his loving partner, Karlie.
A celebration of Mikey’s life will be held at Cavill-Turner Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 6pm-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Labatt Family Heart Centre at Hospital for Sick Kids.
Mikey’s memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with everyone around him.
