Norma Edna Bradley

March 18, 1926 — May 29, 2024

On May 29, 2024, the family bid farewell to the matriarch of the family, a beloved member of the community, Norma Edna Bradley. Norma, known for her unwavering care and compassion, dedicated her life to serving others as a Nurse Aid at Muskoka Regional Health Centre in Gravenhurst until her retirement.

Norma's journey began on March 18, 1926, in her hometown of Gravenhurst, ON, where she spent her formative years. Throughout her life, Norma touched the hearts of many with her kindness and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Norma was a two-time cancer survivor beating 2 different types of cancer in her lifetime! Her passion for life extended far beyond her professional career. Norma found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought her closer to those she cherished. She had a deep love for family gatherings and took pleasure in dancing, camping, fishing, and picking wild berries. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the vast landscapes of Canada and indulge in creative pursuits like knitting and gardening. Norma's social nature shone bright as she engaged in friendly card games and lively rounds of bingo with friends old and new.

Norma's proudest accomplishments included raising her family in Gravenhurst before embarking on adventures to Hornepayne, Elliot Lake, and back to her beloved hometown. Her final 10 years were spent at The Manor of Gravenhurst, where she continued to spread joy with her warm smile and nurturing presence.

Norma will be sadly missed by her children: Margaret Grimes (George Hull), Lionel Poitras (Betty), Louis Poitras (Valerie), Denise Atkinson (late Murray); 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Vera Greenhaugh and Charlie Wood.

Norma was preceded in death by her first husband Fernand Poitras, her second husband Earl Bradley, her partner Lloyd Bradbury, her parents William and Edith Wood, her son-in-law W. Allan Grimes, daughter-in-law Candice Poitras, grandson Fernie, and four daughters in infancy, as well as her siblings Ida Emms, Roy Wood, Ivan Wood, Herb Wood, and Stella Schell.

A Celebration of Life honoring Norma's legacy will be held on July 7th, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 302 in Gravenhurst from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
