Percy Glen Graves

It is with deep sadness that the family of Percy Glen Graves announces his passing on September 24, 2026, at Andy's House, Port Carling, Ontario. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on July 24, 1947, Percy lived a life marked by intelligence, compassion, humour, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Percy was the proud father of Darryn Graves and Neil Graves (Kylie Frame). He was a beloved grandfather to Aurora Manning (Ethan Manning), Lily Graves, and Wyatt Price, and a cherished great-grandfather to Lucy and Rosalie Manning. He is also survived by his brother, Vernon Graves, along with many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and countless lives touched by his kindness.

Percy was known for his quick wit and his ability to have a saying or joke ready for nearly every occasion. His sense of humour was one of his defining qualities and brought laughter and comfort to those around him. Intelligent, honest, and delightfully particular, Percy believed that details mattered and was known for making sure things were said exactly as they should be. His straightforward nature, sharp mind, and memorable personality left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Education and lifelong learning were important to Percy. He earned his LLB from Dalhousie University in 1972 and was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1974. He enjoyed a long and respected career as a lawyer, practicing in criminal law, family law, real estate, and wills and estates. Over the decades, he built a strong reputation as a trusted general practitioner, eventually focusing on Wills and Estates before retiring. His dedication to serving his clients was evident in the care, professionalism, and integrity he brought to his work.

Away from his legal career, Percy had many passions. He was an avid collector of movies, amassing a collection of more than 2,000 DVDs. He loved spending hours watching films, especially legal dramas and the Harry Potter series. He enjoyed sharing meals, coffee, and conversation with friends, and he never met a stranger he couldn't strike up a conversation with.

Percy loved to cook, and his home was always open to anyone who needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply a place to feel welcome. His generous spirit and genuine interest in people made everyone around him feel valued and cared for.

Family was at the heart of everything Percy did. Some of his family's most treasured memories are of sharing ice cream cake with him and watching him delight in spending time with his grandchildren. In recent years, he also discovered a love of travel. Yet no matter where he went, he could hardly wait to come home, organize his photographs into detailed slideshows, and gather family and friends to share every story and memorable moment, complete with his trademark commentary and humour.

One of the most meaningful parts of Percy's life was his dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous and his commitment to helping those struggling with addiction. He freely gave his time, strength, honesty, encouragement, and wisdom to others, often serving as a source of hope during their darkest moments. Since his passing, many people have reached out to share stories of how Percy helped them find their way forward when they needed it most. His belief in others, particularly when they struggled to believe in themselves, changed countless lives. This legacy of compassion, service, and understanding will continue to live on through all those he supported.

Above all else, Percy loved his family. The time spent together brought him his greatest happiness, and the love he shared with those closest to him will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration.

Percy will be remembered for his quick wit, his honesty, his wisdom, his generosity, and the countless stories and sayings that family and friends will continue to share for years to come. His presence leaves an immeasurable void, but his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Cavill Funeral Home.
