Robert Clare Terry

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Clare Terry, who died peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Andy’s House Hospice Muskoka in Port Carling, Ontario, at the age of 86.

Robert was the beloved husband and lifelong companion of Margaret Christine Terry (née Carthew), with whom he shared countless adventures and cherished memories. He was the brother to Frederick Terry (Sandy) and Michael Terry (Margaret), and will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Robert lived a life full of curiosity, craftsmanship, and love for the outdoors. He had a passion for woodworking, spending many happy hours in his workshop creating pieces that reflected his skill and patience. Sailing was another joy - especially aboard his own sailboat - where he found peace and freedom on the water.

Travel was a shared passion for Robert and Margaret. One of their most treasured journeys was a Baltic Sea cruise, fulfilling Robert’s dream of visiting the great capitals of Europe. They also delighted in trips to Canada’s West Coast, soaking in its beauty and vibrant culture. In his younger years, Robert was an avid hiker, and it was during one of those hikes that fate brought him and Margaret together - a story they loved to share.

Robert’s warmth, sense of adventure, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends, but his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.

A Memorial Service will be held in the spring at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, with details to be announced on the Cavill website.

Memorial contributions may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Gravenhurst, South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, or Andy’s House Hospice Muskoka.
