Ronald Leslie Pawlett

August 29, 1936 — February 23, 2024

Gravenhurst

Ronald Leslie Pawlett passed away at the age of 87 on February 23, 2024 at the Granite Ridge Retirement Residence in Gravenhurst, Ontario. Born to parents George William Pawlett and Elizabeth Ann (Bennett) in 1936, he grew up in Toronto alongside his siblings Doug (Ev) Pawlett, Len (Norma) Pawlett, Hilda (Bill) Carr, George (Bev) Pawlett and Bob (Doreen) Pawlett. Ron met his future wife June (Douglas) at the age of fourteen while attending Hartman Jones Memorial  Public School.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years, June, daughter Brenda (James) Stanbury; sons Gord Pawlett, Wayne (Laurie) Pawlett; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Ron had a successful career as a business owner in partnership with his brother Bob, first at a service station located on Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road in Toronto and later owning and operating Pawlett Bros. Marina on Muskoka Bay in Gravenhurst, Ontario. He went on to partner with his son Gord in an Esso service station in Huntsville, Ontario before completing his career working alongside his wife, June, in her ceramics business in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

He will always be remembered for his sense of humour and his guidance. Ron was a rare breed of self made men, universally liked and respected by customers, employees and family. While working at the marina, it was common to hear him answer to either Bob or Ron without correcting the person addressing him, which became a source of amusement to the people around him at the time. He was a very good man and will leave a lasting impression on all of those he touched with his life.

A special thanks to all of the care providers at Granite Ridge Retirement Residence that went above and beyond their duties.

A celebration of life service will be held in his honour; time and date to be announced.

Donations can be made in his memory to the Heart & Stoke  Foundation of Canada or  the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada if desired.
