Prior to moving to Muskoka in 2006, he spent his retirement summers at his island camp on Armstrong Lake near Sudbury, and his winters in Bonita Springs, Florida, where he took up carving. Ross became an extraordinary woodcarver of birds, animals and anything else he took a fancy to. He was always interested in aviation, getting his pilot's license, and for almost 50 years owning various float planes, flying into remote lakes in Northern Ontario and fueling his passion for hunting and fishing. Ross had many other interests and was always involved in various projects, and offering his expertise and guidance to friends and family members. He was a member of various carving clubs in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge, Probus in Bracebridge, the Lawn bowling club in Bracebridge and also Knox church in Gravenhurst.

Ross was a remarkable man, and although he lived a long and fulfilling life, his passing will leave a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew him. Rest in Peace Ross, your suffering is over.
