William “Bill” James Warren passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Bill was the beloved husband of Gretchen for 53 years.
Bill was the loving father of James “Jim” Warren and daughter-in-law, Korine of Atlanta, Georgia, and special grandfather of Dylan and Tessa. He is survived by his sister, Margie of Waterloo. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Carmi and Jean Warren.
Bill was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on November 13, 1944. He was a graduate of Lawrence Park C. I., as well as Ryerson University (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University). He held a career with Zerox Canada for over 25 years, with various management positions. He also worked for FairCopy Services (Xerox Subsidiary) as a logistics manager for four years. Bill was a former regional president for the Northern Ontario Xerox Canada Retirees Association.
In late 1999, Bill and Gretchen moved from Toronto to Lake Muskoka and then in 2017 moved into the Town of Gravenhurst in 2017 where they became very involved in the community. Bill was the founder and owner of Muskoka Home Meal Service. As a very active volunteer, Bill was a former Director of Muskoka Futures, an agency of the Federal Government for developing and financing small businesses in Muskoka, and on the Steering Committee for Northern Ontario for Small Business Development Pool Loans. Bill was a former board member of Pineridge Muskoka HOA for five years, former president of the Sunset Bay Cottagers Association, a former secretary of the Gravenhurst Curling Club, a former board member of the South Muskoka PROBUS Club, and a member of the Gravenhurst PROBUS Club. All of which, he held very active roles in serving his community.
In Bill’s free time, he enjoyed hobbies such as boating on the lake, woodworking, and was a classic car enthusiast. He loved catnapping in the afternoons!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:30-3:30 pm. Donations made to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be arranged online or through Cavill Funeral Home.
