Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Farr (nee Patterson)

Betty was a beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, sister, auntie, godmother, and friend during her incredible 79 years of life. She passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the cottage with her loved ones by her side.

Beloved wife of Victor for 60 years who passed only 13 days before grandma, a true testament to their relationship or simply that she could not go on without her sparring partner. Proud mom of Victor Jr. (Linda), Jo-Anne (Devon), Tom (Beth), and Anthony (Shelley); cherished grandma of Brandon, Brittany (Jake), Michelle (Garrett), Jessica (Jared), Max, and Gabby. O.G will be missed most of all by her great granddaughter’s Violet and Millie. Survived by her sister Peggy Dix who will miss her as will her many nieces and nephews.

Betty was born and raised in Toronto by her parents Jack & Marion Patterson. A zest for the retail lumber business was instilled by her dad but she dedicated her life to raising her family and retail (both lumber business and shopping). Moving their family from Toronto to Nobleton in 1975 Grandma developed her love of volunteering on many executives and committees. This passion followed Gram when she made the cottage in Gravenhurst her home and her time spent volunteering at The Pines and as "Barge Rat Betty" of the Parker’s Point Pirates brought Grandma so much joy in the later years of her life. Her time giving back also brought many special friends into her life who will miss her tremendously, most importantly her best friend Myrna. When gram wasn’t working, shopping a bargain or volunteering her true joys were time spent in her garden and time spent with family and friends at the cottage.

The family would like to thank all of the amazing supports who helped Betty through her courageous battle with cancer over the past year. Her “number ones”; Tammy, Paramed nurse Thera, Cynthia, nurse Susan Clarke and Dr. Kim Forester all of whom were integral parts of grandmas journey even up until the final moments of her life. The family is asking that contributions be made to Andy’s House which also held a special place in grandma’s heart.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held Sunday December 4, 2022.
