THOMPSON, Leith Allen - I t is with great sadness that the family of Leith Allen Thompson announce his sudden passing on July 22nd, 2022 in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

Leith is survived by his siblings, Bill Thompson (Lois), Kerry Saari (Bob), Maureen Thompson, Lynn Belecque (Gilles), Kevin Thompson, Melba Thompson-Vallée (Richard), and many nieces and nephews, including close knit extended cousins of the Piller and Ganong families, and all our Western Canada relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert Thompson and Velda Thompson, and Brother Charles Thompson (Carol).

Leith was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on March 29th, 1952, and was the second child welcomed to Velda and Bob’s family.  The family moved back and forth between Western Canada and Ontario, and eventually landed in Sudbury, Ontario where Leith finished his secondary schooling.

Leith then attended Laurentian University in Sudbury starting in 1971 and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Biology & Math and a minor in Organic & Inorganic Chemistry.  His chosen education launched his career in the workforce straight out of university with a leading global supplier of water, wastewater and process systems solutions, Grace Dearborn that became Betz Dearborn, and eventually GE Infrastructure.- Water and Process Technologies.  Leith led a successful 30-year career with GE starting as a Sales & Service Representative in 1976 and retiring as a Senior District Representative in 2006.

Leith lived in Peterborough, Ontario for many years until he eventually moved to Gravenhurst, Ontario and post retirement, worked in various outdoor occupations including dock building, camp maintenance, and golf course lawn care.

He had a life long connection with his close friends from the Sudbury area dating back 53 years to Confederation High School in Val Caron, which carried forward in the form of an annual fishing trip.

He was most happy being in the outdoors and loved the Muskoka area, and his family and friends.

All will truly miss Leith.

A celebration of life will take place on October 22, 2022 from 1 to 4 pm at Rorab Shriner's Club, 1260 Brooks St., North Bay, Ontario P1B 2P1.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, of which Leith was supportive:  https://www.cysticfibrosis.ca.
