Margery "Marnie" (Ford) Rodger

November 20, 1930 ~ April 20, 2020 (age 89)

On April 20, 2020, in her ninetieth year, Margery Joyce Rodger (nee Ford), affectionately known by family and friends as Marnie, went to be with her Lord and Saviour.  She will be sorely missed by her husband, Hugh Rodger, for whom Marnie was an inspiration, support, and the love of his life throughout more than 63 years of marriage.  She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lori-Lyn Bradley (John), Pamela Tulloch (Andy), and Murray (Jennifer), who are thankful for the joy, laughter and good baking with which she spoiled them while they were growing up, and for her continued kind presence in their adult lives and the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amanda, Chad, Weston, Stephanie (Devon), Jonas, Joel, Audrina, Anthony, Elena, and Jacob. Predeceased by her only sibling, James Ford (Ena), Marnie is also fondly remembered by her niece, Colleen O’Gorman (Alan) and children.

Marnie was raised in Toronto by parents who role-modelled a life of faith and service, tenets which became central to her own life.  She became a Christian as a child and sought ever after to love God and others.  As a young adult, she volunteered as camp counsellor at Camp Mini-Yo-We.  She served generously at Hilltop Bible Chapel for over 50 years, contributing to music and women’s ministries and graciously hosting many home-cooked meals for church community members and visiting preachers.  She was even brave enough to host youth events, welcoming great numbers of teenagers into their home, over many years.  She also served alongside Hugh directing a summer camp for teens held at Guelph Bible Conference Grounds for almost two decades.  Having inherited a cottage from her parents upon their passing, Marnie unreservedly shared her beloved cottage at Sparrow Lake with others, regularly inviting family and friends to enjoy the beauty of windswept pines, sparkling waters and spectacular sunsets – all good gifts from her Father in heaven, who in turn has now lavishly welcomed her, with love and delight, into His beautiful presence.

A celebration of life will be held in Toronto once the social distancing restrictions of the pandemic are lifted, details yet to be determined.
